Historic Figures of the Arthurian Era: Authenticating the Enemies and Allies of Britain's Post-Roman King
Frank D. Reno
The intention of this in-depth investigation into early medieval sources is to place Arthur within his true historical context and remove him from the `misconceptions' of fiction and tradition. Reno scrutinises and compares such manuscripts as the De Excidio , Annales Cambriae , Historia Brittonum and the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle to identify places, events and battle-sites from 5th- to 7th-century Britain. Reno's argument is supported by numerous extracts, tables, lists and chronologies.
